Goodbye AOL, Hello BT Broadband

So the AOL broadband equipment (a modem and software) arrived, confusing me because no engineer had come to "switch on" broadband at the house. Silly me -- unlike ISDN, I learned no special installation is needed aside from a special phone adaptor/filter to go in the jack. Hey, you laugh but no one's had wired broadband out here! But AOL also said I needed to use its software to get online. No thanks. I suspect there's probably a way to connect even without having the software up-and-running, but I shifted over to using BT broadband instead. So far, rock solid.
