I've got a friend who still doesn't have any internet access, but they do have Sky. And now there's all this excitement that Sky's offering free broadband. So I just checked about getting it for them. No luck:

With download speeds of up to 8Mb, a monthly usage allowance of 40GB and at £17 per month, it's cheaper than the equivalent BT product.

Wow -- I wanted to get my friend going with free broadband, and the best Sky can suggest is a £17 per month alternative? I don't think so -- and I think they're going to miss an opportunity to capture a bunch of people who will turn away disappointed.

Turns out, we're not in the Sky Broadband area, as well. So scratch some parts of South Wales and Wiltshire from their extensive network!
