David Beckham To Play For LA Galaxy
As Niall notes, world famous footballer David Beckham is to join the LA Galaxy in July. I saw this earlier and mentioned it at dinner tonight to my sons, one of who loves David Beckham simply because he's the only footballer he really knows. He was thrilled, since despite being half British, he's got a strong sense of American patriotism in him. To prove this, he told me he hoped David would be OK playing with those big uniforms and being tackled. Bless -- he knows Daddy thinks football means American football so thought I meant Beckham was going to play an entirely new sport. My son also has a special kinship with Beckham. He ended up driving little kiddy cars in the same group as Beckham's oldest son three years ago at Legoland. Beckham just turned up for the day, and the ended up in the same group. Oddly, despite that bonding, David never calls, he never writes...
