How many Amazon US affiliates have actually thought about moving OUT of the USA? Think of the benefits.Amazon cannot ban you ever and you keep 100% of you earning since no taxes. By they way really neat spam warning . I had my SPAM link ready but now i think I won't :) Are You feeling lucky,PUNK? :)

Seriously? I have never enrolled in any Amazon program, except to supply content to Amazon for sale. In the last year I have seen sales of my books and ebooks plummet, and since I dropped off all but direct links to my products I have seen no improvement in sales. If you think I will easily capitulate to Amazon's bully tactics, think again. You are serving the beast by re-enrolling. I feel much better promoting my products from my own site. As far as I am concerned, Amazon is just another one of MY pawns, and a poor performer at best.

My sales for the period of time my account was closed was nearly x4 the sales from the same period the previous year. Bummer.

Thanks for the shout-out, Danny. We anticipate many publishers who joined Skimlinks because of the Amazon tax in California will continue to use us despite the reversal, partly for the reasons cited by @Julie and @Matt above, because the cost and effort of managing it all themselves is more than the small cut we make, and publishers still benefit from the reporting, aggregated payment, and other tools we offer. I do feel sorry for the affiliates whose livelihoods were affected by this short-lived exclusion, but it shows how effective lobbying could be. Well done to the PMA who I know had a very active role in overturning the tax.

After absorbing the shock of my 10 hours notice for a few days, I notified all 4,500 of my forum members that Amazon cut me off and I asked them to shop elsewhere if they would. I removed the Amazon banners from my site, replaced them with B&N and Better World Books, and removed all the Amazon text referrals that went out on every email posted on my forum. I just checked the last three months history (which I would not have thought to do if you hadn't mentioned it was there!) and even after all those efforts to drive sales elsewhere, over $6,000 in sales were posted through my links. You are right, what a racket to take the referral sales and not pay the referral fees. But they're Amazon, what can we do but be pawns in this political fight. And FWIW, I pay California sales tax on my annual return for all my own Amazon purchases, because I also believe they should be paying it. When comparison shopping, I figure in the tax on the Amazon item since I will pay it regardless of whether they collect or not.

Gotta love this one huh Danny? Not sure if you got hit like I did since I'm sure you were making a lot more than I was, but they charged me $15 just to send me a check when they closed out my Amazon associates account a few months back. So by the time I actually got my $19 check it was only worth $4. Talk about ridiculous. I'll definitely check out these alternatives you've listed since I don't think I'll be running with Amazon in the future. Cheers!
