So the AOL broadband equipment (a modem and software) arrived, confusing me
because no engineer had come to "switch on" broadband at the house. Silly me –
unlike ISDN, I learned no special installation is needed aside from a special
phone adaptor/filter to go in the jack. Hey, you laugh but no one’s had wired
broadband out here! But AOL also said I needed to use its software to get
online. No thanks. I suspect there’s probably a way to connect even without
having the software up-and-running, but I shifted over to using BT broadband
instead. So far, rock solid.
Goodbye AOL, Hello BT Broadband
