I have a dream. I have a dream where when if I’m signed into more than one Google property, I won’t get signed out of all of them just because I leave one. I dream of a world where I can have Gmail open on one Firefox tab, Google Analytics on another, Google AdSense on an another, then be able to sign out of Gmail and still have Google Analytics and Google AdSense keep working for me. I have a dream that somehow Google Accounts grows up and makes all of this possible, so that I can play in parts of Google as I chose, rather than having to be logged into all or them or not. I know, I know — Yahoo works this way as well. So it’s my Yahoo dream as well.

Hey - but Danny.. Isn’t it cool to know that you’re logged out of all your accounts when you click the Google Logout Button on any screen? Isn’t it cool to be certain that you’re Google account isn’t ’signed on’ at some public terminal. What a pain it would be to have to log onto every Google Web Application just to see if I was logged off of it. I think your logout 1-at-a-time feature might be a challenging development for the Google Crew.. They would need to give us a screen where we could see which accounts were logged on or off. We’d need an option to choose which logout method we wanted to run on our Google Accounts.
That’s an excellent point, Justin. I suppose both Google and Yahoo are correct in erring on the side of caution.
I share your dream. It would be great for agencies who want to look at two different adwords accounts in two separate tabs without it switching to the other account when you click anything. Also, Yahoo IS better at this than Google. When I sign out of my Yahoo Mail, I am not logged out of their whole system. I have to then click “Sign out completely”, so they don’t TOTALLY err in the side of caution. Looks like they might be ahead on this one.
