New Desperate Housewives, Over There & Battlestar Galactica Arrive In The UK

in Britain, TV

While I hate January in Britain because of the gloomy weather, I love the month because we finally start getting the new seasons of shows from the US. I wrote earlier that ER and the OC had started their new seasons. This week, Desperate Housewives, Over There & Battlestar Galactica all get going.

Desperate Housewives starts up on Channel 4 tonight at 10pm, so we finally get to see what’s next  for Wisteria Lane. Yeah, I know. I could have downloaded episodes for my iPod, plugged it into the TV and watched sooner. I’m not THAT into TV.

Meanwhile, Battlestar Galactica started its second season LAST WEEK, unbeknownst to me. Argh! We had a real treat with the first season, since it showed in the UK before the US. Since then, we’ve been waiting, and waiting and waiting.

I’d seen no promos that it was finally coming back this month on Sky or through the Daily Telegraph’s TV highlights. I just opened up the Sky magazine I get as a subscriber, however, and there it is. Catch it on Sky One on Tuesdays at 9pm. Guess I should open that magazine when it actually arrives.

So the series premier has come and gone. I wrote about Sky By Broadband and how you can download movies on demand that Sky is showing. Here’s an excellent reason why they should make TV shows available, as well. Since I can’t download, I’ll have to catch it on repeats. That probably won’t happen for a month or two.

I also missed the second episode, Valley Of Darkness, last night. But that repeats tonight at 10pm on Sky Two, then again on Saturday at 9pm on Sky One and one more time at 9pm Monday on Sky Two. FYI, as always, TV.com has a great episode guide for the show.

Over There is the prime time Iraqi war drama I’d read about in USA Today (I get a copy of that each Friday, to get a US spin on the news). It was on Sky One last night at 10pm, and it repeats tonight at 11pm on Sky Two, then Friday at 11pm on Sky Two, then a last chance on Sunday at Midnight on Sky One.

FYI, I could have kept up on knowing when Battlestar Galactica was coming by subscribing to an alert from TV Genius. It’s free and easy to use, so check it out.

I can’t even imagine waiting that long for the second season of Battlestar Galactica to start, that cliff hanger from the first was nasty.
The second season is great, with a great cliff hanger as well. We just started the 3rd season about 2 weeks ago, and the show is still staying strong. I thought the way they seemed to be speeding through things, like the whole Boomer thing, that they’d start running out of stories to tell. I thought the Boomer situation would have gone on for a few seasons.
Hopefully, you won’t have to wait as long for season 3 to come around! :)

Thinking of dropping your link spam? Consider this. Seriously, STOP & READ. The guy who runs Google's spam fighting team? I know him pretty well. In fact, it's sort of a joke between us to see what's the latest absurd link drop I can share. So if you want your site to be a poster child on his idiots wall -- and probably to encounter a Google penalty -- go ahead, drop your link. It's nofollow anyway, plus I do have built-in spam fighting and what gets past that usually gets nabbed in a few minutes to a few hours. So you got to ask yourself. Are you feeling lucky?
