I have walked in to the Consulate at the embassy in London and walked out an hour and 15 minutes later with a renewed passport. My wife did the same thing to renew the passport for our daughter; took her an hour and a half. I've always found them to be courteous, professional and efficient.

Of course, you can usually plan ahead and do this by mail or spend a few bucks and get an expediter to do it.

Hi.
Jennifer, I was wondering if that worked out for you. Did you recieve the passport in the 15 days? Also did you have pre-booked flights?
I was wondering if I just showed up at the embassy with my son, without an appointment, if you think they'd take him in anyway? :)

hey there, i see this is a few years old but wanted to leave a comment. good to know there are others in the same boat. i've just filled out the form to renew my daughter's passport and making the appt is a nightmare! all the appts are gone for the next four weeks, so i have to log in at 8:45 in the morning to try and snag one. at which point i'll have to pay for expedited service since it's taking so long so get an appt. fingers crossed.
