RIP Johnny Hart, And Thanks For The Anteater

Some
sad news today.
B.C. artist Johnny
Hart has died. Aside from
being famous for his comic strip, Hart is known to so many at UC
Irvine for having had one of his characters transformed into our mascot — the
Anteater.

UCI didn’t have much when I was there to make it unique. To be honest, it
still doesn’t seem to have that much. But the anteater was always a source of
pride. Keep your Bruins and your Bears, we had a flippin’ Anteater. Of course,
UC Santa Cruz went for the banana slug but still, the anteater was cool. Some
history of how the anteater became UCI’s mascot
here and
here from the university,
not as much or as in-depth as it should be.

Thinking of dropping your link spam? Consider this. Seriously, STOP & READ. The guy who runs Google's spam fighting team? I know him pretty well. In fact, it's sort of a joke between us to see what's the latest absurd link drop I can share. So if you want your site to be a poster child on his idiots wall -- and probably to encounter a Google penalty -- go ahead, drop your link. It's nofollow anyway, plus I do have built-in spam fighting and what gets past that usually gets nabbed in a few minutes to a few hours. So you got to ask yourself. Are you feeling lucky?
