Rollerblading Along The Newport Beach Boardwalk

Working away while the sun is bright and shiny is really tough, but I’m at least making time each evening to hit the boardwalk on my rollerblades. It’s one of my favorite things, to whiz along dodging people and peering into the houses along the sand. Many of the beachfront homes are dressed up in various ways by the owners with signs or statues or other items that grab your attention. Below, my own version of of a Google-like StreetView along the sand. And no, I don’t have the ability to blur you out of the videos!

Heading north from near the library:

Continuing past the grammar school. I always say to my kids, “Now if you lived here, you’d play on the beach during recess.” So far, they’re still not giving in.

Going past Newport Pier:

North of the pier:

North end of the boardwalk:

Heading back from the north end:

Down at the Balboa Pier:

South end of the boardwalk:

Sorry there is no music. I remember how cool it was that YouTube cut a deal to make royalty free songs available. Then I tried it. The songs, sorry artists, were not that thrilling. Such a disappointment.

“and peeing into the houses” – wow, I didn’t know you could do that in California.

I was about to make the same comment but I see it has been fixed already.

Heh — yes, we’re very liberal in California, though not that liberal!

Thinking of dropping your link spam? Consider this. Seriously, STOP & READ. The guy who runs Google's spam fighting team? I know him pretty well. In fact, it's sort of a joke between us to see what's the latest absurd link drop I can share. So if you want your site to be a poster child on his idiots wall -- and probably to encounter a Google penalty -- go ahead, drop your link. It's nofollow anyway, plus I do have built-in spam fighting and what gets past that usually gets nabbed in a few minutes to a few hours. So you got to ask yourself. Are you feeling lucky?
