Joyce, you need to contact Facebook about that. I think you're required to give them your birthday, but you don't have to display it publicly, I believe.

This is what my profile said, and I am wondering why.

Sorry, your account is temporarily unavailable. Please log in to www.facebook.com from your computer and follow the instructions given.

What does that mean, I can fix this istantly, but I want to know how did this occur?

I've deleted my FB account. They can go screw themselves. It's worth noting that the Canadian Privacy Commissioner is investigating them AGAIN for breaching Canadian privacy legislation.

I had read somewhere that posting one's birthday on Facebook exposed
personal information that could be used by financial fraudsters to help impersonate you to one's bank, credit card company, email provider, etc. Not sure if that's really true, but I'd prefer showing my birthday (especially the year) to as few people as possible.

Facebook continues to get worse with every so-called improvement. I really hate the new FB privacy settings. I'm particularly annoyed at how they no longer give users control over what is visible on their wall: from every new connection made to every comment on a photo. I waste a lot of time going back and deleting them...

I had this go on a while back myself. I finally gave in and in a few short weeks, up came advertising that was very "age specific" .. nearly to the day.

It's all about the money my friend .. Security has absolutely nothing to do with it, unless, of course, you can count securing ad profits.

Since that time, I've been resolved to just allowing a posted page concerning my business site ..deleted all of every friend and links, and tightened the screws on the privacy settings .. I may, or may not, just be rid of that one page in the end too, I don't know.

Facebook just sort of blew it when they tried to market to me according to how old I was.
