So Much For Free Sky Broadband

I’ve got a friend who still doesn’t have any internet access, but they do have Sky. And now there’s all this excitement that Sky’s offering free broadband. So I just checked about getting it for them. No luck:

Thanks for registering for Sky Broadband, we’ve checked the phone number and you won’t be in a Sky Broadband area within the next 12 months.

We are currently rolling out our broadband network across the UK as fast as we can. For Sky TV customers, like you, that we haven’t reached yet, we can offer you Sky Broadband Connect. With download speeds of up to 8Mb, a monthly usage allowance of 40GB and at £17 per month, it’s cheaper than the equivalent BT product.

Wow — I wanted to get my friend going with free broadband, and the best Sky can suggest is a £17 per month alternative? I don’t think so — and I think they’re going to miss an opportunity to capture a bunch of people who will turn away disappointed.

Turns out, we’re not in the Sky Broadband area, as well. So scratch some parts of South Wales and Wiltshire from their extensive network!

Hi Danny,
What is it with you and Dave doing posts on Sky? The last one was on the Sky HD box. How much do you guys earn on Sky related Adsence? I must start threads on Sky too.
Let’s hope Dave doesn’t copy this one too.

I think AdSense makes me about $2 per day, so it ain’t much!
I write about Sky a lot because, well, I spend too much time watching Sky!

Thinking of dropping your link spam? Consider this. Seriously, STOP & READ. The guy who runs Google's spam fighting team? I know him pretty well. In fact, it's sort of a joke between us to see what's the latest absurd link drop I can share. So if you want your site to be a poster child on his idiots wall -- and probably to encounter a Google penalty -- go ahead, drop your link. It's nofollow anyway, plus I do have built-in spam fighting and what gets past that usually gets nabbed in a few minutes to a few hours. So you got to ask yourself. Are you feeling lucky?
