On my last flight, I lost the
power tip that
goes on the end of my trusty Targus in flight power adapter. I cruised over to
the Targus site and was pleased to find that you could purchase replacements for
a reasonable price. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find the right one for my new
notebook. I decided to call Targus UK, figuring I wouldn’t get very far.

Usually calling computer companies just gets you referred back to their web
sites. Instead, I quickly reached the support team. They looked up what power
tip fit my old notebook, and while they couldn’t say if it would work with my
new one, it seems pretty likely (the power supply voltage and fittings are the
same).

"How many did I want," I was asked. "How much are they," I replied. "Free."

Free? Turns out they don’t make my model of power adapter any more, and I
guess they find it useful just to give customers any missing tips. The rep
encouraged me to take two, so I have a spare. Suffice to say, I was pleased,
plus it made me pretty loyal about considering Targus the next time I’m
considering a product they might offer.

Thinking of dropping your link spam? Consider this. Seriously, STOP & READ. The guy who runs Google's spam fighting team? I know him pretty well. In fact, it's sort of a joke between us to see what's the latest absurd link drop I can share. So if you want your site to be a poster child on his idiots wall -- and probably to encounter a Google penalty -- go ahead, drop your link. It's nofollow anyway, plus I do have built-in spam fighting and what gets past that usually gets nabbed in a few minutes to a few hours. So you got to ask yourself. Are you feeling lucky?
