Tru Calling Season 2 Starting In The UK

in Britain, TV

Faith is back! I mean Eliza Dushku! I mean Tru! What a surprise. I caught a
promo that the new season of
Tru Calling
begins tonight on Sky One at 9pm. I thought Tru Calling was like Jake 2.0 or
Firefly or Space: Above & Beyond,
sadly a one season wonder. No, a second season was happily made.

Eliza
Dushku
is great. It was like a breath of fresh air when she arrived as
Faith on Buffy The
Vampire Slayer, kicking vampire butt in her far from squeaky clean way.

If you enjoyed that, rent Bring It
On
. She plays a similar kick butt person dragged into a cheerleading
competition. Hey, I watched it with my 13 year old niece. That’s my story, and
I’m sticking with it.

Tru Calling, if you’ve never heard of it, has her reliving days in order to
stop some type of tragedy. Think of a CSI-style show meeting Groundhog Day. It’s
not the best series made, but it’s plenty entertaining.

It looks like Season 2

ran
in the US from March through April 2005 and made up all of only six
episodes. Bummer. It’s sort of like when I bought "Season 2" of Battlestar
Galactica on DVD in the US, only to discover the pseudo-Season 3 wasn’t
included. And don’t mention Battlestar plots to me, please! The latest season
picking up from the Cylons attacking that planet they found hasn’t started here.

From what I can tell, Sky’s showing Tru Calling on Thursdays at 9pm, and
tonight is a double-bill. Repeat showings happen on Sky Mix at 9pm on Tuesdays.

By the way, if you like Buffy, you might enjoy a special edition of the Good
Karma show I did with Vanessa Fox of Google a few weeks ago:
Buffy The Search
Marketing Vampire Slayer
. We’re both Buffy fans, and we apply lessons of
Buffydom to the world of search.
